IPL 2014 Shines Bright

There is a new star shining brightly on the global sporting horizon. Yes, you guessed it right! It is none other than the Indian Premier League! For those not in the loop, the Indian Premier League is one of the biggest extravaganzas modern sport has seen in recent times. It is a celebration of the beautiful game called cricket albeit in a refreshing and unorthodox manner. The unconventional format and the oodles of additional entertainment offered, have made this league a hit with global television audiences apart from drawing packed crowds in all Indian cities. The Indian Premier League was initiated by the BCCI to provide an apt platform for talented and budding cricketers as well as global stars to display their skills.

Teams were constituted out of major Indian cities and this gave cricketing rivalry a new dimension altogether. Fans began to root for their favorite franchises and authentic cricket lovers were glued to the engrossing battles between top global and domestic stars on the field and there were plenty of off field attractions thrown into the mix as well. From Bollywood stars and celebrity team owners to viewer contests, prizes, special events and star interviews, IPL presented sporting entertainment like never before. Alongside, premium ticket purchasers also got access to high profile after parties which were held after matches concluded. These parties were attended by all sporting and film stars involved, thereby giving cricket fans something more to cherish and watch out for other than the on field action.

This led to the expansion of the league and new franchises were established. Sahara Pune Warriors have withdrawn from the IPL this year though. However, the teams in the fray now include Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Rajasthan and Punjab. Cricket fans are now gearing up for the 2014 IPL auction which will ultimately determine team composition. There is palpable excitement regarding top global and Indian stars and the teams bidding for them. There are some particular IPL auction rules that all franchises have to follow in this edition.

Firstly, a maximum amount of Rs. 2 crore can be paid to any player. There are several players who have been placed in this top bracket. There are several other pay bands for players. Over two hundred players will be up for auction this year. Alongside, there can only be a maximum of nine foreign players in an IPL squad. This will put the spotlight on talented domestic players who can make a difference to the proceedings. Expect high bids for Indian talents who have been performing well in the domestic circuit. Alongside, franchises which have retained players will have a limited purse at the auctions. This will put franchises like Mumbai and Chennai in a tight spot at the auctions.

You can lap up all the excitement and action, decked out in your favorite team colors. Purchase premium sporting equipment and other autographed merchandise online. Celebrate IPL 2014 in style with the right gear!
